Susan Sarandon planning ping-pong Reality TV production
While reality TV is hardly world famous for its intellectual depth, the new show planned by Susan Sarandon is clearly aimed at the shallows, alongside Jersey Shore.
The 63-year old actress, who scored four Oscar nominations before taking one home for her 1995 duet with Sean Penn, ‘Dead Man Walking’ is already in production, and says the show takes reality in a whole new direction.
“It won’t be the Jersey Shore,” she tells People. “It’s more of an episodic documentary. We’re trying to invent something you haven’t seen before that follows a bunch of people in this crazy little subculture.”
Susan says she wants the show to capture the vibrant life among new ping-pong addicts that’s now blooming at ‘Spin’ – the Park Avenue club she co-owns with her new 31-year old friend, Jonathan Bricklin.
“We’re in the early filming stages,” she assures the reporters. “I’m not sure where we’re going to land in terms of our home because we want the tone to be funny and quite different than anything anybody’s seen before.”
Considering the mind-numbing muesli that most shows in the genre comprise, that shouldn’t be hard. But would you watch a show that stars ping-pong addicts?
It’s a novel idea, but what are your views?…
